Eligibility

Students who will be entering 9th-12th grade are welcome to apply. Students must secure their own housing and transportation for the duration of the program. We welcome local international students, however they are required to secure the appropriate visa to visit the United States.

The BAC is not approved to issue a Certificate of Eligibility (I-20) for the Summer Academy program. Students in the United States with a valid immigration status are welcome to apply.

Houseman Scholarship

The Houseman Summer Academy Scholarship is awarded to prospective BAC Summer Academy students based on their own diverse backgrounds. The Houseman Scholarship Program requires an essay and a letter of recommendation.

Summer Academy Financial Need Scholarship

Summer Academy Financial Need Scholarships are awarded to prospective BAC Summer Academy students based on financial need. The Summer Academy Financial Need Scholarship requires an essay, letter of recommendation, and evidence of financial need

Candidates applying to both scholarships need only submit one essay and one letter of recommendation

Essay Question

Please submit an essay of approximately 250-300 words addressing the following:

Design is all around us. We see it in the clothes we wear, the furniture we sit on, and in the buildings and places where we live, work, play, and go to school. What sparked your interest in design? How do you expect good design might influence the lives of people in the multi-cultural world in which we live? What would you like to gain from taking part in the BAC Summer Academy?
